Phyllis passed away from cancer in May of 2008. She relocated to New York City at the time she married husband David and they had three children. In the last few years they lived in Plainfield, New Jersey. She became a realtor in the Hoboken area. She fought a couragous battle with cancer for about four years;never saying much about it to friends or family. Phyllis adored her three grandchildren. We met in middle school and remained as close as sisters until the day she died. Even now I am tempted to pick up the phone and tell her how the reunion is coming along.
Phyllis and Sharon took me in and made me feel at home in River. I was blest to have known and loved her. Another time, just a few years ago, my husband and I were able to visit with Phyllis and David in New Jersey, discovering that I had lived down the street from '52 until I moved to RR in '56. They were so gracious to us. Phyllis will always be in a special place in my heart.
I really didn't know Phyllis that well in high school. It wasn't until later encounters, when we both attended the same college, that I realized what a wonderful sence of humor she had. I am sorry for not taking advantage of earlier opportunities of interaction with her, but appreciate knowing both she and her husband.
The picture just posted of Phyllis and her husband David is as I remember her last. We visited in her lovely home in NJ a few years before her death and had a marvellous dinner there on the patio in the lovely garden. Love you, Phyllis!
